Did you know that your child should be receiving at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day?
Physical activity is vital to a child’s overall development and as we have access to a large outdoor area we try on a daily basis (weather permitting) to provide outdoor play for 30 minutes. On some days, such as Work-Out-Wednesdays, the full 60 minutes recommendation is achieved through our physical activity program which aims to develop their fundamental motor skills, manipulative skills, co-ordination and balancing skills and to develop a positive attitude to physical activity. The earlier a child is encouraged to become active the higher the chance they will sustain this behaviour for life. The Buntús Start program, developed by the Irish Sports Council, has been incorporated into our curriculum.
